COVID-19 Info

May 1, 2020

This remains a very difficult time for our country. We are providing some general information and links that you may find helpful. We’ll get through this together.

On Monday, April 26th, Governor Henry McMaster extended the “home or work” order for the duration of the state of emergency unless a new order issued by McMaster modifies, amends, or rescinds it.

Governor McMaster wants businesses to have a plan to be ready to open safely, and he will keep an eye on health data to inform his decision. The governor added that his “home or work” order may be canceled before this current state of emergency ends on May 12th.

The Beaches in North Myrtle Beach
The North Myrtle Beach City Council passed a resolution opening “public beach crossovers and accesses, shower and bathroom amenities therein and adjacent parking lots”, effective April 21, 2020 at Noon. Hatley said it is up to citizens to follow social distancing guidelines like adequate separation, wearing masks and regularly washing their hands. “If our citizens will abide by the safety procedures, I think we will be fine,” Hatley said. “But if we find people aren’t listening … we can always go back and close them down.” The City continues to require beach-goers to practice social distancing; prohibits crowds or gatherings of three or more persons, except for family units; and prohibits partying and team games (volleyball, etc.).
